Ss. Mary and Elizabeth Nursery and Primary Academy

The School

Background

In 2006, William and Lorraine Mbu envisioned a school where all children receive a quality education in an inclusive environment. They gathered a team of similarly-passionate individuals to make a difference in the lives of children with developmental difficulties and special needs; the result is Ss. Mary and Elizabeth Nursery and Primary Academy, located in Buea, Cameroon. At the Academy, affectionately known as MARELI to the local community, children will move beyond their disabilities to learn, study, and play together.

Students

Maximum capacity will be 600 to 700 students, with an average class size of 35. Students will be admitted from a wide variety of backgrounds in the larger Buea Community to foster a positive atmosphere and friendly exchange of ideas in a diverse environment.

Faculty

Because all children are entitled to a quality education, we will have well-trained and well-paid faculty. Teachers will be recruited from the local University of Buea and from Government Teacher’s Training colleges nearby. Additionally, internships and volunteer teaching opportunities will be available to those who wish to travel to Cameroon.

Building

The three-story building will house 25 classrooms. Wheelchair accessible, the school accommodates all kinds of disabilities.
